OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT — APU and APF

AUSTRALIAN POWERLIFTING UNION (APU) HAS BEEN ACCEPTED AS A PROVISIONAL MEMBER OF ASIAN POWERLIFTING FEDERATION (APF)

Dear APU members,

The Australian Powerlifting Union has been accepted as a provisional member of the Asian Powerlifting Federation (APF) starting at 1st January 2021.

The move away from the Oceania Regional to Asian Powerlifting Federation provides the APU and our athletes with many great opportunities for growth, experience, and an abundance of international competition.

The APU has previously worked alongside the APF at the Asia Pacific Championships in 2019, and will look forward to future opportunities.

In 2021, Australian Lifters for APU can participate in International Powerlifting Federation championships sanctioned by the following federations.

  • Asian Powerlifting Federation
  • Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation
  • IPF World Championships
  • Pacific Games (details tba)

Grading requirements for qualifying totals for Asian Regional Events will be based on the “regional” qualification on the APU grading scale.

2021 will now be an even bigger year for lifting.
