IPF OFFICIAL STATEMENT

POSTPONING OF INTERNATIONAL IPF EVENTS

Dear IPF Member Federations, dear IPF Family,

of the reason of the current escalation of the Corona Virus in Europe and the huge affects to the rest of the World, the IPF – in coordination with the organisers of International Events – has decided to postpone or cancel the following events:

SBD Sheffield (Scheduled 28/29 March) – CANCELED

World Classic & Equipped Masters Powerlifting Championships – Sun City/RSA – (Scheduled 26. April – 03. May) – POSTPONED

World Open, Sub- Junior, Junior & Masters Classic & Equipped Championships -Pilsen/CZE – (Scheduled 15.-23. May) – POSTPONED

From SBD “In the past few weeks, the IPF and SBD have been discussing and implementing measures to safeguard the health and safety of everyone participating in the event. But with the unprecedented escalation of the coronavirus outbreak, the cancellation of sports events globally and the growing travel disruptions, there is no option but to cancel Sheffield 2020. Ticketmaster will be arranging refunds for tickets for this year’s event. We are truly appreciative of the support we have received from the athletes and fans of the sport, and have begun working on plans for Sheffield 2021.”

The World Sub- Junior, Junior & Open Classic Powerlifting Championships in Minsk/BLR are currently not affected and NOT Scheduled to be postponed, but of course we need to monitor the situation and we will set the necessary action if needed. Naturally such informations will be sent out in an appropriate timeline!

All other IPF World Championships (World University Powerlifting Cup in Dubai/UAE, World Sub- Junior & Junior Powerlifting Championships in Birmingham/Alabama/USA, World Open Powerlifting Championships in Stavanger/NOR) are not affected by this action and will be organised as Scheduled.

The IPF Leadership will coordinate now all further activities with all regions to prepare a proper Calendar for 2020, as most probably, also regional events will be affected. Therefore we need to find the best solution for all international events.

More details regarding new dates for the postponed events will be published in the next days!

I kindly ask now the IPF Family to stay together and that we all together will handle this unfortunate situation in the best way for our beloved sport!

Dear in Sports

IPF President
